Forberg Smith was formed in 2020 as the result of the merger of Forberg Scientific (founded 1971) and Smith Instrument (founded 1927). The company is a premier manufacturer’s representative and distribution firm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan with additional locations in Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and St. Louis. Along with our flagship product lines which include Endress+Hauser and more, Forberg Smith also offers industrial hose fabrication, gauge filling and sealing, panel building, as well as tube bending and fabrication. Our customer base spans all major industrial sectors including chemical processing, food and beverage manufacturing, automotive, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and renewable energy production.

As a member of The Kendall Group, we offer an unmatched product portfolio across our business divisions including process control, measurement instrumentation and valves, steam generation, filtration, automation, electrical supplies and industrial pipe and fittings. Forberg Smith technical experts provide numerous services, from startup and commissioning to troubleshooting, repair and calibration. Unlike other companies in this space, we are able to collaborate with our other divisions to source and manage most aspects of projects within industrial facilities, to streamline project management and save valuable time for our customers.
Can you describe the steps you take in order to build and maintain your relationship with customers?
At Forberg Smith, we strive to maintain solution-based relationships with our customers. Our application engineers and inside and outside sales teams have been extensively trained in our flagship product offerings and utilize the latest technology to optimize product specification and procurement. We pride ourselves on understanding our customers’ processes and providing value with both our products and services. Our goal is to be viewed as trusted advisors for our customers.

We are continually looking for ways to execute projects more efficiently, leverage our diverse industry expertise and support customers from start to finish to create a better total solutions package. Providing training about our company’s offerings and the ways we can support our customers occurs regularly at Forberg Smith and the other divisions within The Kendall Group to ensure our owner-associates deliver a high level of service excellence to customers.
