Beginning the process for reliable instrumentation
Production starts in the machine shop, equipped with high-end CNC equipment to help us create highly precise machined parts. Through our state-of-the-art capabilities, we eliminate the need for manual work on a lathe or gun drill used for thermowells and fittings. In our facility we also manufacture unique inserts such as the iTherm QuickSens and StrongSens, as well as the world’s first self-calibrating thermometer, the iTherm TrustSens. Various parts used on our hygienic product lines are machined here as well, including process connections like tri-clamp, Varivent, and our patented quick-neck design.
Various techniques are used throughout production to deliver the best results to our customers. For instance, the use of pull turning eliminates extra production steps and ensures final detail during assembly. For our Barstock thermowell, specialty drill bits are used to create concentric holes at the bottom to establish the best heat transfer. With such techniques, we make sure our customers receive a reliable product every time.
When it comes to welding, we utilize both automatic and manual welders. The state-of-the-art welding equipment allows us to ensure equipment types, such as a barstock flanged thermowell or a hygienic tube thermowell, are fitted to the customer’s specifications.
In order to guarantee the quality of all our temperature measuring instruments, each device is tested rigorously in our facility. Performance and accuracy of each temperature sensor is assessed by an insulation resistance test and an ice bath comparison. Thermowells go through several non-destructive tests upon request including internal and external hydrostatic pressure testing, dye penetrant testing, and surface roughness. We perform high-voltage and functionality testing for our temperature transmitters and system products.
